The London Marathon
Who are The London Marathon?
The London Marathon (currently known through sponsorship as the Virgin Money London Marathon) is a long-distance running event held in London, part of the World Marathon Majors. The event was first run on 29th March 1981 and has been held in the spring of every year since. 386,050 applicants, more than ever before and over 40,000 people took part.
The Brief
London Marathon wanted people to share their achievements and promote the charities they are raising money for.
London Marathon wanted to make the most of the opportunity to collect data from so many runners so they approached us here at Reakt to design an activation. Branding and easy of transport was key to the event.
Our Solution
Our designers and project managers worked closely with London Marathon to design two fully branded photo booths (inside and out) with personalised photo template, bespoke software screens and branded micro site.
We set up the software to capture the data specified by the Marathon and ensured photo sharing on Social Media with printing activated after the photo was uploaded. Working with our exhibition stand designer we designed and created the perfect layout. We set up 4 days before the Marathon and were still open for business on race day.
The Finished Outcome
We knew that runners would love sharing their photos on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SMS and Email with their friends and family as well as promoting their chosen charities so we made sure the photo quality was amazing. Their branded prints were fantastic keepsakes for their incredible Marathon journey. The booths were constantly busy taking over 5,000 photos in 5 days!
The data, captured in a fun way, was invaluable. We’ve delivered amazing corporate activations for London Marathon for the last 3 years, there’s no better testament to our services than successful repeat bookings.
